Initial Ideas

My idea is to create an app for competitive swimmers focusing on competition structure and goal setting.

The Problem
At swimming meets each team is given a information pack from the organiser. This usually includes a schedule of events, a massive document which includes every event and every swimmer competing in that event, their entry time, club name, date of birth and position in the race. This document is subject to change until the start of every session as athletes will withdraw. Immediately before the start of a session the coach of each club will be given a Heat Sheet. This is the final order of athletes for each event in the session. The problem with a Heat Sheet is there tend to be very small number in comparison to swimmers. This means there is always a rush to look at the sheets and swimmers have to search for their position among hundreds of other athletes. 

The Solution
To create an app that will filter through this mass of information and be tailored to the individual athlete.
It will be able to pin point what event the swimmer is competing in, their heat number and lane number. As well as keep record of their entry time compared to the others in their heat and their personal bests. It will tell swimmers when to report to the call room and allow swimmers to log tactics for their event.
