OUGD403 - Studio Brief 01 - Logotype Crit 2

Logo Type Crit 2

In response to my previous crit I have changed my logo type idea.
I have produced several variations of my logo of the word 'Disanchor' using the typeface Futura.
For this I have chosen an estate agency. My target audience is young professionals living in the city.

Experimenting with kerning and spacing between 'Disanchor' and 'Estate Agent'.

Experimenting with the different forms of Futura as well as the placing of 'Estate Agent'
Experimenting with kerning and upper and lowercase variations.
Replacing the A with an outlined image of a house.

Experimenting with colour and layering.

During this class crit I received a lot of positive comments about the logo that has the A replaced with   the outline image of the house.

'Professional and gives a strong indiction what the company is.'

'Still retains a level of playfulness'

'Has more character'

'The modern typeface represents city living'

'Clean and legible'

It was also commented that the colourful logo was an interesting design but is more suited to student accommodation rather than professional city living.

The criticism I received was that the house within the logo was an obvious choice. I understand this comment, although I don't think the word 'Disanchor' is immediately associated with estate agencies so maybe the obvious symbol is needed.

Suggestions I have received were to add an anchor to the word to symbolise a stable home. However, I think this will be difficult to understand and is a contradiction of the word because disanchor means to remove or raise an anchor.
Another suggestion I received was to explore different colours within my logos. I also need to watch my kerning. An example of this is the spacing between the 'N' and the 'C' on my digital work as it is too wide and throws the word off balance.

I will continue to work on this project by continuing to explore new ideas and making changes to designs I have already looked at by considering the feedback I have received throughout my crits.
